You can never go wrong with that plugin that shows related posts, it's almost a must if you want visitors to go deeper and deeper in your site.

Yeah that indeed a good plugin.
Users can browse into your blog and look for similar information on posts they might be interested in.
SEO plugins also do the trick, since those plugins attrack people through search engines which are used by millions to find the information they are looking for.
Last but not least do not forget meta tags, keywords, and generally the "meta" things to improve the seo of your blog post.

seo all in one pack definately helped me get my site more SEO friendly. ive recently just created a new site for my city and found that "quick adsense" is also very easy to use while trying to monetizing my site. www(dot)fresnopartyrentalsdirectory(dot)com

I have the SEO All in One Pack but I always forget to use it. :S
For embedding slideshows on individual posts, try SlideDeck. It has the most unique slide interface I've seen so far.

I think the most useful plugins, from the ones that I use are... Hotlink Protection for pictures, All in One SEO Pack, Akismet, Sociable for sharing and LinkWithin for similar posts recommendations.
