What has proven to be the most effective method at gaining any type of traffic to your blog? Do you continue to use other methods that are not as effective?

Well I think that every little thing helps, so you shouldn't give up on something just because it only gives you two or three visitors a week. Every visitor is worth it.

The most effective thing is simply to get your link out there. Advertise, post on forums with the link in your signiture, or other blogs as comments even.

I really think that just getting your name out and about is helpful, though making it easy to find for others is also important. You don't want somebody to spend more than just a few seconds trying to find your content, allowing them to get bored with it. You want to be easy to find, so SEO is very important, as well as having your name be catchy, I think.

I once had met a netizen who had made 1000$ in over 24 hours by submitting it to reddit. From there, I had tried to use it, but to no good result. I like submitting my articles to digg and stumbleupon though

Just put your link everywhere, in your signature, the 'about you' sections, pretty much anywhere you can.
But make sure that it does not annoy people, if your are going to put your link there make sure you have made a contribution first.
