Default Motivation for Blogging?

I started keeping a blog because I moved and left a lot of friends and family behind that I want to keep updated. I don't make any money off of my blog, but I know a lot of people do. Does anyone blog just to make money, or are there other underlying motivations for blogging? If so, what are they?

I created my blog because I wanted to try and show other freelance writers that it really is possible to earn a great living by doing what you love - without having to pay some "easy way get-rich-quick" scam artist a fortune. It's just a round up of things I do to make my freelance business keep working and people started following

I started because I moved to another country and in part was describing the changes in the culture, and the dealings with immigration. It was almost a journal for me, and I was shocked when I got a few readers-and of course once I realised that I had I started building on that.

I think the first time I started writing in an online journal was for partially vain reasons; I already kept a personal daily diary and I just wanted a public one to show off my writing and blather on about my thoughts without being interrupted by those listening (or reading). I posted poetry and short stories and stuff like that. I didn't get paid, either, so no, money wasn't the drive for me

For me, it was my passion in writing and also being able to make a couple of bucks out of it. I truly enjoy writing my blog when I get comments posted in the blog posts as well as shoutbox that I put in my blog. It really give me great satisfaction and provide me with ample motivation to continue blogging.

The reason that I want to get into blogging is to increase my income. I plan on using Adsense and affiliate links plus the content that I write gives me something to show prospective clients as I am a freelance writer.

I have started to blog as an additional income stream I hope but also just as way to let my thoughts and ideas be heard. I have a lot to say and I thought this might be a good platform.

For me it's all a matter of pleasure. I love blogging for the sake of blogging. I also try to make my blogs interesting so when somebody reads them, they will enjoy them, but at the same time, I do it for myself.

The motivation ... I just want to know what the others think of my problems, or whatever I`m writing for ... sometimes there are really interesting solutions of the problems, or sometimes people gives me really good ideas, that are useful for me

The niche of my main blog is also my biggest hobby. So it's pretty much clear what's my motivation

Sharing my ideas and interests with people whom wish to learn is my primary motivator. Money comes a close second though

The real motivation for me to start blogging was my constant desire to write a lot. I always preferred to write a lot....be it my answers in exams or love letters to my girlfriend

My motivation for blogging is that I know that my readers love what I write and I'm making money for my passion. Isn't that a great thing? It's highly motivating, if you ask me.

It's very important for me to blog about things that I'm passionate about. If I earn money as a side product, it's even more fun!

For me, it's all about having fun and generating content that both my readers and I love to read.

I couldn't agree more! Passion is the key to success, you'll never succeed if you don't know anything about the subject.

The best motivation for me to blogging is my viewers. I love reading my viewer's feedback and comments and I love to reply back to them with various posts and comments. This is one of the aspects of why I love to blog.
